Laserfiche Launches AI Agents to Automate Multi-Step Workflows with Natural Language

Long Beach, Calif. — Laserfiche has introduced a new suite of AI Agents, marking a significant step toward automating enterprise content management workflows through natural language interaction.

Announced at the company’s Empower conference, the new capabilities enable users to execute complex, multi-step tasks—ranging from document analysis to workflow automation—without requiring technical expertise or manual configuration.

Bridging Manual Work and Intelligent Automation

Laserfiche AI Agents are powered by advanced generative AI models and designed to operate within the organization’s existing governance, security, and compliance frameworks. By interpreting natural language prompts, the agents can analyze content, trigger workflows, and perform bulk actions across enterprise systems.

“We are moving beyond manual processes by offloading routine work to intelligent agents operating within a governance framework,” said Karl Chan. “This allows organizations to modernize operations while maintaining compliance.”

Embedded in Secure, User-Level Access Controls

The AI Agents are accessible through Smart Chat, Laserfiche’s AI-powered interface within its repository. Each agent inherits the permissions of the initiating user, ensuring that all actions comply with existing access controls and data governance policies.

This approach enables employees across departments—regardless of technical skill level—to safely automate workflows and increase productivity.

Cross-Industry Use Cases

By combining AI-driven content analysis with workflow automation, Laserfiche AI Agents can identify conditions in documents and take action across a variety of business functions:

  • Legal: Detect inconsistencies in contracts and route them for review
  • Human Resources: Classify sensitive employee data and adjust security settings
  • Finance: Identify overdue invoices and trigger follow-up actions

Industry-specific applications include:

  • Government: Streamline public records processing and compliance checks
  • Education: Detect and secure personally identifiable information (PII)
  • Financial Services: Enforce internal data governance policies
  • Manufacturing: Flag quality issues and initiate investigations

Redefining Search and Records Management

The introduction of AI Agents also signals a shift in how organizations manage and retrieve information. With automated metadata extraction and AI-assisted search, users can focus less on file organization and more on taking action.

“The ‘where’ of document storage will become less important,” said Justin Pava. “With AI-assisted search and autonomous agents, users can act on information rather than spend time organizing it.”

Phased Rollout and Future Capabilities

Initially, the AI Agents will support one-time actions triggered through Smart Chat. Future updates are expected to expand functionality to include:

  • Recurring and scheduled workflows
  • Integration into broader business processes
  • Background monitoring and autonomous task execution

The feature is currently available to select users at the Empower conference and will be generally available to Laserfiche Cloud customers starting May 7, 2026.

Advancing Intelligent Content Management

With the launch of AI Agents, Laserfiche is positioning itself at the forefront of agentic AI in enterprise content management. By combining automation, natural language interaction, and strong governance controls, the company aims to help organizations scale operations while maintaining compliance and data integrity in an increasingly AI-driven workplace.
